A new type of OFDA instrument for measuring the fineness of hemp fibers has been developed by the Institute of Hemp Studies, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and a rapid measurement technique for the fineness of hemp fibers has been developed. The results were recently passed by experts.

      Fiber fineness of hemp products is one of the main bases for measuring its quality. The smaller the fiber, the better the quality. The traditional method of measuring bast fiber in our country has always been the manual operation of "cutting the mid-fiber, counting the fibers one by one manually" and then measuring the fiber branches. This method has the advantages of large error, lack of credibility and time-consuming. It takes at least 45 minutes to determine a ramie sample and 120 minutes to determine kenaf and jute.

      To solve this problem, a new OFDA instrument for measuring the fineness of hemp fiber has been developed by the Institute of Hemp Studies, Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Using this instrument and technology, it takes only 2-3 minutes to measure a sample, and the accuracy is high and the stability is good.
